SIL Steps Up Panel Production

Due to higher than expected demand for the SIL790 Series we have stepped up production capacity in January

Popularity of the SIL790 series took us by surprise (particularly at this traditionally quiet time of year) with record orders taken in December and January.  SIL has stepped up production capacity and stock levels to ensure we are able to meet demand.

Lead time is currently 3 weeks and we are working hard to ensure this does not extend to longer.

SIL790 Series Offers Agriculture A NEW Generation of Diesel Irrigator Pump Control & Instrumentation

During November and December SIL delivered  790 Series controllers to 2 major new clients with a third to receive panels in January 07.

Simplified Starting - no manual overrides - no switches to enable protection

Monothrottletm - uses one Swichgage for throttle and shutdown protection

First Out Fault Indication - Individual messages indicating separately all cause of shutdown

Warm Up and Cooldown - the 790 series includes automatic warm up and cooldown as standard. Modern high power engines benefit from warm up and cooldown periods before and after operation at high load.

High Quality Enclosure - Single and double door versions available

Customisable - Customers design their own ideal combination of instruments and controls.

Cost - the 790 series can offer significant cost savings compared with traditional panels.

Proven - the 790 series has been put into limited service during 2006 with selected customers for reliability verification. All trial demonstrated very high reliability and high level of operator satisfaction.

The Main new feature benefiting users is the unique Monothrottle (TM) system. Traditional arrangements for throttling need 2 water pressure Swichgages. One used for High/Low Pressure fault shutdown. The second used for throttle adjustment for maintaining pump discharge pressure.

Monothrottle (TM) uses a single Swichgage for both functions. The monitors high and low pressure signals and automatically determines abnormal conditions and initiates shutdown protection. When no abnormal conditions are detected then the high/low pressure signals are used to adjust engine speed.

The 790 series include automatic warm up and cooldown as standard. modern high power engines benefit from warm up and cooldown periods before and after operation at high load.

Mechanical timers are eliminated helping avoid failures, and protection override and maximum run time delays are set automatically.

Main Features

  • Simple Keyswitch Starting

  • Automatic Engine and Pump Protection Override Timers

  • Continuous display of status; warm up, throttle up, at load, cooldown etc.

  • Individual cause of shutdown indication for all events including time expired, no flow,

  • Intelligent no flow detection circuits avoiding nuisance stops on flow switch momentary closure.

May 2006 SIL Completes Another Successful Development Program

SIL Takes Diesel Engine Fire Pump Control into the 21st Century.

SIL has completed a very successful development program to introduce a new control system for LPC/LPS Diesel Engine Driven Sprinkler Fire Pumps. The controller is designed to specifically meet key commercial and technical needs of the industry.

The project began by consulting with key client commercial and technical personnel to identify needs. SIL then created the the ideal solution. Before release into service an extensive test program took place to ensure compliance and reliability.  SIL attended start up of the first installations to ensure smooth introduction into service.  The development program concluded with technical training seminars and supply of test equipment and spares kits.

Key benefits of the new controller include :-

Simplified Design - low cost manufacture providing short manufacturing lead time, reduced installation engineering and lower cost.

Low Parts Count -  enabling easy service and repair

Special Features - enhanced commissioning features ensure batteries remain charged at all times and improved test features help commissioning engineers.

Event Logging - local and remote event logging capability for continuous health check and preventative maintenance planning

(LPC & LPS are rules governing fire sprinkler installations in the UK and are widely recognised by governing bodies and insurers.)
